DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, Bunn Special, scarce hunting case, 21J, 16S, gold-filled original HC with attractive engraving detail including an idyllic home scene to rear, front shield with initials, cuvette with Christmas 1923 presentation, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, rayed pattern nickel damascene, s#4216155. An excellent example of this scarce high grade hunting case; this particular variant is believed to have a total production of 650 total made and is identified as Variant C in Michael Chamelin's superb Bunn Special book.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces with few small micro-fine scratches, tiny dark spot at perimeter of balance cock; dial with few faint hls, we have examined rear of dial and can confirm it does have correct original dial feet positions for this Model 8 mvt; excellent hands; case shows light wear, few dings and nicks to band, few small dings and one shallow crease type dent to rear which are all visually well hidden by exterior engraving detail, engraving detail with mild reduction; tight bow, crown shows light wear; plastic crystal is ill-fitting currently lifting from bezel along one side.
